Sears Warns Consumers to Remove Label from Craftsman Circular Saws,
Obstructed Blade Guard Poses Laceration Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in
cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a hazard warning
of the following consumer product.
Name of product: Craftsman Circular Saws
Units: About 308,000
Retailer: Sears, of Hoffman Estates, Ill.
Manufacturer: Positec Power Tools (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., of Charlotte, N.C.
Hazard: The "Craftsman" logo label located on the upper blade guard can
become partially detached and interfere with the proper operation of the
lower blade guard, exposing the saw's blade and posing a laceration
hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Sears has received two reports of the blade guard
catching on the label with one incident resulting in an injury to the
user that required 12 stitches.
Description: The recall involves a 7-1/4-inch circular saw. The model
numbers included are: 172.108550, 172.108560, 172.108650, and
172.108660. The model number is located on the circular saw's upper
motor housing. Model numbers 172.108560 and 172.108650 have a gray body
housing and a gray blade guard. Model numbers 172.108550 and 172.108660
have a black body housing and a gray blade guard. "Craftsman" is written
on the label on the upper blade guard.
Sold at: Sears, Kmart, and Orchard Supply Hardware stores nationwide and
online through these stores from November 2004 through February 2007 for
between $40 and $60.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the Craftsman label from the
upper blade guard, according to the instructions. Instructions are
available online at Sears.com (under the Product Recalls page) or at

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in
cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary
recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using
recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Chanukah Oil Candles
Units: About 9,000
Importer: Aviv Judaica Imports Ltd., of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Distributor: Ahron's Judaica, of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Hazard: The oil candles can become engulfed in flames and melt the
plastic cups holding the candles in place, allowing hot wax to leak out,
which poses fire and burn hazards to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Both firms have received eight reports of the
candles igniting and the plastic melting. No injuries have been
reported.
Description: This recall involves both the 44 count and the 36 count of
Chanukah Oil Candles. The packaging is a red box with the following
printed on it: "Chanukah Oil Candles With Jelled Extra Virgin Olive Oil"
and "Distributed by Ahron's Judaica Item # OCCL-25/44."
Sold through: Jewish speciality stores nationwide from November 2006
through December 2006 for between $15 and $25.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and return
them to the place of purchase for a full refund or contact the firm for
instructions on how to get a refund.

NY Thermal Inc. Recalls to Repair Gas-Fired Hot Water Boilers Due to
Carbon Monoxide Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in
cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary
recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should contact the
firm to arrange for a free repair.
Name of product: NTI Trinity Gas-Fired Hot Water Boilers
Units: About 4,800
Distributor: NY Thermal Inc., of Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada
Hazard: Acidic liquid in a drain line can cause a fitting in the boiler
to leak, posing a risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: NY Thermal Inc. has received one report outside of
the United States of a leaking fitting resulting in a CO alarm
activation. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recall includes NTI Trinity gas-fired hot water boilers
with model numbers Ti100, Ti150, Ti200 and Ti400. The boilers were
manufactured between November 28, 2005 and January 8, 2007. The Ti100,
Ti150 and Ti200 are wall-mounted units, and the Ti400 rests on the
floor. The boilers are gray in color and "NTI" appears on the front
cover. The model number and date of manufacture are located on the ID
label inside the front cover of the boiler.
Sold by: Plumbing and heating contractors nationwide from November 2005
through February 2007 for between $3,000 and 8,500, depending on the
model.
Manufactured in: Canada
Remedy: Consumers should immediately contact the firm for instructions
and to arrange for a free repair.

Gemmy Industries Corp. Recalls Disney Plush Easter Baskets Sold at
Wal-Mart Due to Choking Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The following product safety recall was voluntarily
conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should
stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Disney Princesses Easter Baskets
Units: About 8,500
Manufacturer: Gemmy Industries Corp., of Coppell, Texas
Hazard: Silver beads and ribbons attached to the basket can detach,
posing a choking hazard to young children.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The product is a pink and purple plush Easter basket
decorated with silver beads and ribbons. "Disney Princesses" is written
on top of the basket. Pictures of the princesses are on the front of the
basket. The basket measures about 10-inches high by 8-inches wide.
Sold by: Wal-Mart stores nationwide from February 2007 through March
2007 for about $10.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should take the Easter basket away from young children
immediately and remove the beads and ribbons to prevent the choking
hazard. Consumers also can return the item to the nearest Wal-Mart store
for a full refund.
